Suede

Rolling into its 11th year, Standon Calling, the festival that evolved from a simple backyard barbeque has just made their first line up announcement of the year.

First up on the headline slot is Alternative Indie Brit-Poppers Suede, who are sure to delight some of the older festival goers with their classic tunes, mixed in with a few newer numbers from their latest album, Night Thoughts.

Joining Suede will be Grammy award winning Jess Gylnne, who first rose to prominence as the singer on Clean Bandit’s non-stop 2014 hit Rather Be. She’s doing her own thing now knocking out some of the hits from her superb debut album I Cry When I Laugh.

Finally Kelis will be bringing her Milkshake to the Yard, ending the weekend with a slice of New York Funky Hip Hop flavour that’s sure to inject a vital dose of energy into the last run of the party on Sunday night.

It’s not only headline acts that have been announced, with many other acts on the bill also getting the big reveal treatment. Mercury Music prize nominees Everything Everything together with famous Swedish Rockers The Hives will be jamming it out there.

Dance aficionados will be able to get their mix fix with the likes of Ghostpoet, Ana Calvi, Adam Green and Theo Parrish DJing through the night, keeping the wide eyed and restless going into the small hours. Whilst those seeking new talent and noise should be more than satisfied with Billie Marten, Flyte and Jones bringing a fresh sound.

Standon Calling 2016 lineup poster

Every year Standon Calling puts forward a different theme with 2015’s A Town of Two Faces promoting a cowboy circus mashup. A more nautical approach is required in 2016, with festival goers boarding The Legend of the Lost Seas theme, which no doubt will require ship-shape party heads to navigate their way around the site.

As with many of the top parties of the year, Standon Calling will most likely sell out long before its 29th July start date – plan now and purchase tickets here.
