From the 11-14th of August, BoomTown looks set to be its usual mental event, with all the right names to skank your legs off to – whatever your genre. With the first roll-call of big-name headliners to pull your grimiest moves out to now being announced, it’s looking to be a weekend-long absolute explosion of a party.
The crème of Ska, Madness, is the first act to grace our ears at the head of the Town Center, with their genre-defining tunes propelling your body one step beyond to blues saxophone beats and bop-y piano. Then, release the tension and prepare for the raw reggae vibes of Damian Marley to melt your knees and shoulders down in the Lion’s Den, where Fat Freddy’s Drop will also dub you into oblivion at your command.
Other sensational artists announced so far this year include Leftfield, Parov Stelar, Beardyman and Babylon Circus, alongside Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Morgan Heritage, Imelda May, Tanya Stephens, Mad Caddies, Levellers and Inner Circle. Three brand new stages are also set to blow up their respective corners this year, adding even more spectacular acts to the already pulsating chaos.
Immerse yourself in the sweaty cityscape, set in Matterley Estate, Winchester, and let the weird and wonderful blow your mind. Nine distinct “districts” themed down to the balls ensure that you are tightly wound into the stylised microcosm that BoomTown is so well known for, while the expansive stages will dazzle ear canals from all over the musical spectrum. Climb into the narrative that lies at the heart of this festival with little more than the essential dose of face paint and unleash your alter ego, surf the waves of energy beating from the eclectic districts, and grab your share of the spine-tingling vibes emanating from the very base of this booming city.
