About Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza is a touring musical festival. It has appeared in a number of top locations, ranging from North America through to Brazil and Germany. Without question, it is one of the biggest names in the US music business, originally conceived by Perry Farrell, lead singer of Jane’s Addiction, as a farewell tour party for his band. This is one of the world’s largest events, playing host to some 160,000 people over a three day period.
As you would expect from a festival that was born from the mind of a true Alternative icon, the music policy at Lollapalooza is one that certainly focuses on the leftfield side of the Rock spectrum. Expect everything from old time Grunge heavyweights, Speed Metal deities and Punk mobsters all rolled up with a touch of Brit-Pop players and Indie whiners. There are even spaces reserved on the roster for some of the more avant garde Dance music acts, giving revellers a full appreciation of the audio spectrum.
Some would argue that Lollapalooza is one of those festivals that you should see before you die, and we wouldn’t go against this opinion. Much like the UK Glastonbury festival this is one party where simply being amongst the crowd at any moment is a special and memorable experience. It is impossible to say what to expect from the event as it takes place in different locales year in, year out, other than the fact that you can bet your bottom dollar you will have a rocking old time.
