About Green Man
The Green Man Festival is a Welsh event that plays upon the Ancient Pagan party traditions. All the staff have the quote “to the Lord of Misrule” on their tops, reminding you of the primal forces that sit just a flip in the ether away from a good old shindig. It evolved from a single day event in 2003 to the five-stage, four day explosion of art, sound and everything to do with the expressive side of human nature.
Musically, the Green Man Festival hosts everything from main-stage crowd-pleasers through to relative unknowns sourced through the event’s unsigned act competition. Once the big name frolics have subsided, there are plenty of little musical nooks and crannies packed with everything from guitars to synths to keep you rocking till the early hours.
When you’re not having your ears massaged by the splendid sobriquet of bands that are specially selected to play at the Green Man, there is more than enough to keep even the most inquisitive mind occupied. From Einstein’s Garden, a rare foray into the right brained world of creative science – something you don’t see at many events – through to cinematic entertainments, comedy and even holistic therapy sessions to help you relax and recline away from the bustle and throng of the main stage.
And after you’ve danced with the devil, there’s a final ceremony at the end of the event where you can watch as the organisers burn down an effigy of the Green Man.
