About Beautiful Days
The Beautiful Days Festival takes place in August at Escot Park in Devon. It’s a family friendly event that swerves sponsorship, giving attendees a chilled out and relaxed vibe for three hot summer days. It was started in 2003 by the Levellers after their previous party, The Green Blade Festival experienced problems. This is an event with the onus on creating a cultural exchange with a big dose of weird, harking back to the 1960s festivals put on via Hippy culture.
There are six main areas to the Beautiful Days festival including a big top and main stage. The musical policy is primarily based around the Indie Rock sound – picture the heavier side of the fence as compared to the washy mainstream, together with a slice of everything and anything Alternative, whether that be Folk, Dance, Punk or even a nice slice of Experimental sounds.
The lead singer of the Levellers has described The Beautiful Days festival as the antithesis of the larger corporate events and when you experience the suspension of normal life presented by this party you’ll see why. The vibe has won Beautiful Days the 2011 Family Friendly prize at the UK Festival Awards and with all kinds of things from story-telling craft workshops for kids – this truly is an event for everyone.
