The Naughty Corner @ Glastonbury – June 22 – 26, Worthy Farm, Somerset

Going to the Pyramid Stage? First time at Glastonbury? Course it is. When people say that there’s more to this epic event than the big names, they are giving you some sterling advice. Seriously, sack them off and visit the south east corner of Glastonbury where you can find the real festival anarchy and debauchery. You can’t call yourself a hedonistic festival goer until you’ve experienced this crazy patch of land at least once in your lifetime.

Lose yourself in the winding alleyways of Shangri La. Party with the recently passed in the Glasto Latino area. Rave on in Bez’s Acid House in the Unfairground. Get down with dirty Drum N Bass in an abandoned tower block with a flaming train poking its way out the top or simply Disco the night away with the NYC Downlow drag queens.

As you’re probably already aware the tickets for this big one have already sold out, but a resale is on the cards for the spring. It’s worth trying to get a ticket just for this small pocket of the festival that’s so big on fun. Make sure you keep one eye open for the rhinos!

Beat-Herder – July 15 – 17, The Ribble Valley, Lancashire

Here’s one that’s definitely getting a name for hedonistic indulgence – Beat Herder. This fun, fantastic and frantic party has an entrance policy that allows the whole family to come in and experience the maelstrom. With a free party vibe that feels like it has been carefully distilled from the late 1980s Summer of Love style raves, the spirit of beauty is reborn for a full 72 hours in these fields.

The crazy crew responsible for Beat Herder like to place a theme on the proceedings every year. Last time out it was the Letter E – so you’re probably getting the picture, and if you want the sound to accompany this image, listen no further than Primal Scream, Chronixx & Zinc Fence Redemption, Donovan, Andhim, Claude Von Stroke and Derrick Carter.

Trip the light fantastic on the very mood of the place with sonic sensations provided by Caribou, Primal Scream, Lissie, Maribou State, Rae Morris and Petite Melle. BoomTown August 11 – 14, Matterly Estate, Hants

This one is strictly for the hardcore. With a name in the business as the epitome of barmy, messy fun, Boomtown takes you away with the fairies to a different world, out of time, where you’re sent tumbling down the rabbit whole into a Shangri-La-esque set up of structures, installations and nano-festivals. Based on the idea of a gold rush town that’s filled with sudden wealth, the narrative of this party is set to parallel some of the best and worst aspects of our own real lives.

If that’s too much for your brain to take in then don’t worry. You’ll be able to lose yourself over and over again as you find a new meaning to your existence amongst the family friendly crowd. The line-up for this one includes Madness, Damien Marley, Leftfield, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Parov Stelar and the Levellers to tell you there’s only one way of life.
