22 independent UK festivals have joined forces to raise funds for refugees currently stranded in Northern France.
Putting their collective heads together, they have all put forward a pair of festival tickets to their event in the Ultimate Festival Prize Draw. This gives 22 lucky entrants the chance to get their hands on a pair of tickets to one of these fantastic parties.
The festivals on the list are certainly no slow coaches or slouches. These are all premium parties including Beat-Herder, Beautiful Days, Bestival, Boomtown, Camp Bestival, Dimensions, Eden, Forgotten Fields, Green Man, Kendall Calling, Larmer Tree, Love International, Love Saves the Day, Noisily, Nozstock, Outlook, Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Soundwave, Sunfall, Tokyo World and WOMAD.
BoomTown Fair, one of the main culprits in putting together this crafty charity plan told the media: “We held a refugee fundraising event back in November and between all involved we managed to raise over £10,000 to go directly to Aid Box Convoy”
Over the past few months the festival community has been pulling together in many ways to help. Charitable projects have been set up, fundrasing event have been held, and supporter networks have been engaged in travelling to France.
These workers on the ground have been actively building shelters and volunteering. And through their activities a significant difference has already been made, but the hope is with this larger collective effort much, much more will be achieved.
The fundraiser started yesterday (Wednesday 27th January) and runs until Tuesday 1st March when entrants will be picked out at random and emailed directly.
