After all the rumours and waiting Download has finally announced the headliners for their 2017 outing. Headliners are now confirmed as System Of A Down playing the Friday, Biffy Clyro on Saturday and Aerosmith are closing the Sunday.

Predictably the announcement left Metal fans in a mix of elation and disappointment as some had predicted the likes of Guns N’ Roses and Metallica for this year’s line up. Unfortunately it seems both these old school heavyweights are missing this party, considered by many to be the premium event of its kind in the UK.

This has led to considerable speculation that the same line up will be replicated across the European event, although only System of a Down have been confirmed for both parties. Last year Rammstein and Iron Maiden headlined both festivals, whilst Black Sabbath only performed at Donnington.

Also confirmed for Download 2017 are Slayer, Rob Zombie, Prophets of Rage, Five Finger Death Punch, AFI, Of Mice & Men, Sleeping With Sirens, Motionless In White, Simple Plan, Every Time I Die, The Story So Far and Fozzy.

After a couple of glorious outings at Reading and Leads, this booking marks Biffy Clyro’s Download Festival headline debut, whilst a supergroup composed of Cypress, Public Enemy and Rage Against The Machine will be playing their festival ever UK show at the festival.

Download Festival 2017 will take place June 9-11 2017 in Donnington Park, UK.
