The Secret Garden Party has announced the Arts & Expression theme for 2015 which will be ‘Childish Things’.

Head Gardener, Fred Fellowes explains the thinking behind next year’s theme saying, ‘Why are we encouraged so much to grow up and leave, what adults call, the best days of our lives? Not that we needed that much encouragement; we spent our time hurtling towards the ‘next stage’, determined to be bigger, more grown up, older, more mature and tall enough to take the ride. And what have we found? Certainly not all of the freedoms we thought we would.”

Previous themes for the hedonistic playground that is Secret Garden Party have been based around ‘Yellow Brick Road’, ‘Superstition’ and ‘Standing on Ceremony’, helping the festival earn a shortlist for ‘Extra-Festival Activity’ award at the forthcoming UK Festival Awards as well as a nomination for ‘Best Medium Sized Festival’.

Grant applications for anyone wishing to contribute to the festival’s arts and entertainment programs are open now, details of which can be found on their website.

The Secret Garden Party takes places at Abbots Ripton, Cambridgeshire from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th July 2015. Last year’s festival saw headline performances from Public Enemy, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Little Dragon. Read our review of SGP 2014 here.
