The Off Alternative Music festival is held during an August weekend in Katowice, Poland. This three day long party has been running every year since 2006 and was created by Artur Rojek, the leader of the bands Myslovitz and Lenny Valentino. Over the years it has had themes that have tied in with major historical events including the Anniversary of the start of WWII and Chopin’s birthday.
The music policy at the Off festival is one that encompasses many genres with one thing in common – the acts and artists generally go against the contemporary grain, swerving mainstream likeability for cool class. This means that the event generally plays host to just a few well known European names and more than makes up the numbers with crazy bands and up and coming talent.
Alongside the musical entertainment on offer from the Off festival you can expect to see all kinds of art exhibitions, films and lectures. This is an event where the organisers take care to ensure that each and every visitor to their site walks away with a new experience or idea, which for many is the very embodiment of the festival scene itself. All of this takes place in a chilled out atmosphere with a solid people-centric vibe.
